The Dilemna of Taraba - by Taslim OKUNOLA

Since the arrival of the ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State from USA, some unspeakable things have being going on in the executive and legislative arena of the state. This whole brouhaha started early this year when Governor Suntai had a helicopter crash leading to brain disorder and has since then being in USA where all his treatment bills are paid with the tax payers' money. Pending the time of his treatment, his deputy was appointed Acting Governor of Taraba State by the legislators.

On eavesdropping that the House of Assembly might impeach her husband, the wife of Governor Suntai orders that he be brought home from USA to continue running the state as the governor. But when the legislators visited Mr. Governor, they found out that he is not fully healthy to take control of the state and advise that he should be flown back to USA. The bone of contention here is Suntai supporters wants him to continue running the state with his adverse state of health.

Do they actually prefer power to his health? Or is it that they are fighting for the interest of the people of Taraba State?
