Hope and Patience

Hope and Patience are two words that are inter-related in the sense that if one is not patient, he/she can never believe there is still hope for him/her. Patience is a key character in the human life. It is very important. It begets every good thing like wealth, love, success and so on.

According to a Yoruba adage, "with more than enough patience, you can cook a stone and it will become cooked(soft)". Its very right because its stressing the essence of patience which is very enormous. Its good to be patient because impatience spoil things. You don't know if the next minute is your time to shine. A popular saying states, "the darkest hour is just before dawn" WAIT FOR GOD'S TIME... IT'S SIMPLY THE BEST"

ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU) - a great labour union. When I was small, whenever I hear ASUU, I think its University strike coming up again. It got to a point that I think the meaning/synonym of ASUU i strike. It was so obvious that whenever ASUU appears in the newspaper, it means the beginning of strike. And my elder ones will have to stay at home for months! I really hate ASUU then because the strike stuff is kind of ridiculous.

But later on I got to understand the meaning of ASUU and what it stands for. I got to know that the only language that the Nigerian Government understand is STRIKE. And I really think this is not supposed to be so. I believe its a thing that can always be settled via negotiation if the two parties agreed but the government will never give in until the strike happens. And this strike of a thing is really affecting the educational system of Nigerian Universities. I want to advise th Federal Government to make decisions very fast to save the studies of Nigerian Students. What you will still do after strike can be done without any strike.

Happy Fathers' Day

Series of Fathers exist on this planet Earth. Series of Dads. Lots of paternal parent. But mine is one of his kind. He is just the reason for my existence on Earth after God. He has done so much for me.

To my father, you are just the special one sent for me. I really enjoyed my stay with you. The laughters, the cries, the good health, the sickness period, the time of suffering, the time of sufficiency. You worked so hard to get me to the height I am and you are still planning to move me more by the grace of God. I love you so much. Thank you for been there for me everytime. Happy Fathers' Day, sir!

Examination - the true test

If I'm to carry out a survey by asking 20 people randomly that, "Is examination a true test?", about 16-19 of them will tell me that examination is not a true test because some students do know the answers to each exam questions but the tension of examination won't let them answer the questions to satisfaction. I agree with their point but I disagree with their answer. I agree with their point because its true that such things do happen. But I disagree with their answer because whenever I ask them a particular question, they don't have answer to it.

The particular question is, "what is the true test if examination is not?". At least, people still manage to pass even with the tension. But imagine a promotion without examination. Is it worth it? I will take promotion without examination as reaping without sowing. I think instead of complaining that examination is not a true test, lets learn to fight tension and exam phobia. Its possible! We can!

Human Relationship - friendship as a case study

Whenever one is talking about relationship, people think that its all about love life. That's why I had to qualify it with an adjective to make it look more real. Human Relationship is something that is very essential in everyone's existence because nobody is independent. We all depend on each other for one thing or the other. Bankers depend on the farmers for food, farmers depend on bankers for safety of their farm income. Even nations depend on each other, that's why the greatest country in the world, U.S.A, had to go into serious partnership with Israel. Its like a cycle. Thus, the need to study how it works is also important.

Human relationship is a broad topic that has many branches like business relationship, friendship, love, marital relationship and so on. I will be talking more on friendship. The key word in friendship is understanding! Once both parties have a good understanding of each other, it will be smooth without any flaw. This is what is called good human relations. Understanding can only be said to be present between two persons if and only if each of them knows what the other like and dislike. And tried to cope without doing what the other person dislikes. This is called mutual understanding. A very important aspect of friendship.

To build a good friendship with someone you don't know before, you need to be extra careful because you don't know what the person likes or dislikes yet. And that means, the probability that you offend the person so soon is very high. So, extra carefulness is the key. Just do things with respect and courtesy. With this, you can easily build a good friendship and a lasting one tho.

Time Management

Time management is a very underlying and vital part of our day-to-day activities. If time is not properly managed, it can jeopardise the lifetime project of anybody. Time management is applicable in many areas of life; business, marital life, religion, career, education and so on. Time can be efficiently and properly managed by planning ahead of time and planning vigorously for the unforeseen events which can arise from a particular action.

The efficient management of time is very tedious because efficient planning cannot guarantee efficient reaction. For instance, if someone drew a study timetable to manage his study time and eventually found out that he is tired when he still have to read one more course. He might sleep and not attend to that course properly. This means yielding to the plan is abortive and that makes the whole plan useless.

I will advise us to try and see into the efficient management of our time because that is the key to great success..

Quarrel or Squabble

What is the major cause of quarrel? I believe it results from misunderstanding or doing what the second person detest or don't like. I've engaged in lots of quarrel within the few years I've spent on the earth but all the time, I feel the second person is guilty and should apologise to me. I think this the main concept that makes a quarrel to last longer than expected. Both parties will think the other person is guilty and should apologise. When it gets to a point that no one can apologise, it turns into a prolonged disagreement.

Most of the times, I feel bad at one period or the other when quarreling with someone I need a giant help from. I will be like; should I apologise and be helped or exercise my ego and not be helped? Most of the times, the answer that comes from  the mind is: give yourself some self respect, don't apologise. And at the end of the day, one end of losing a great opportunity.

I believe we can live a life without quarrels, lets work towards that and feel the free world around us. Help will come from the appropriate places and we will have a complete peace of mind.

Nigeria O' Nigeria - by Dangulbi

Before going to bed, i had to eat something. I opened the fridge and yes, all the things in my fridge had turned to block; the light had been on for 8 years without going off. I finished eating and went to bed. Oh I have to reduce the speed of this fan, the voltage is so high.

I woke up very early in the morning to the sound of classical music. I casually strolled into the bathroom. Oh! the cold is too much this morning, i turned on the hot-water tap. While towelling myself dry, i turned on the radio and heard the presenter speaking of how Nigeria is now one of the most developed countries in the world and how the Nigerian president yesterday declared his asset and all he had to boast of was N20 million naira and a duplex in his village.

I finished dressing up and took my time to eat. I had no reason to rush, afterall the road is always free and there are no potholes.

On the way, i saw a few policemen patrolling and I greeted them. I stopped to chat with them for a few minutes after which i drove off laughing.

In my workplace, i saw some people loitering in the waiting room and discovered they were here to be interviewed. I saw the son of the permanent secretary. I also saw a young man with tattered shoes and patched-up trouser; he graduated recently from one of the government universities, but everyone could testify to the fact that he's brilliant.

While going home that day, i saw the man with the tattered shoes smiling and i asked him why. "Sir, i've been given the job." "What! What of the Permanent secretary's son, didn't his father call beforehand?" "No" the man said, "He didn't"

That evening, i went out to play in the neighborhood, i saw Adamu and Obinna discussing the recent trend in the country, of how Mallam Danjuma is now the governor of Rivers state, Senator Abifarin Oluwafemi is now the governor in Borno state, Mr Chijioke Godffrey is now the governor of Oyo state.

I decided that since i had a lot of time on my hands, i should make a quick stop in the hospital to make a few checkups. I went to the Cancer treatment Hospital, after making sure i was cancer-free, i visited the HIV/AIDS Checkup Centre and I was well attended to with world-class equipments, i even saw the mother of the vice-president there.

From there, i saw Hope of Salvation Church and Egbe Alasalatu Islamic house holding a joint prayer for continuous peace in the community. I saw the pastor and Imam consulting on the prayer points. I stayed for a few minutes and then left.

The next morning, i tried to make some calls, but i couldn't find my phone. I took my wife's phone and saw tons of messages sent from my phone asking me to call back, that my phone was found on the road. I hurriedly called my phone back and got a man on the line. He told me he had been calling my wife's number since yesterday night but that she wasn't picking her calls. I apologized and told him that she put her phone in silent to avoid disturbances while sleeping. I went to reclaim my phone, i thanked the man and offered him a few naira, but he rejected it saying, i shouldn't worry.

Since it was election time, i went to the polling booth nearest to me to carry out my constitutional duties. I saw only people of voting age there, everywhere was peaceful and the security agents there were merely putting up appearances as they were just chatting with the voters. I voted for the candidate of my choice and left. The next morning, i heard that the election results were out and that the runners-up and winner were having lunch together. I turned on my T.V set and saw for myself, in fact, they weren't just eating, a healthy conversation was going on. The winner of the presidential election asked the runners-up to advice him as to how to effectively run the country and they all sat together to discuss on how to sustain the massive success the country has been witnessing.

The next day, the foreign media said that the American president has laid some rules down for Nigeria to follow, failure to do that will amount to severing of diplomatic ties. The Nigerian president replied 30 minutes after, he told the American president to go to hell and that he won't allow his country to be ruled by foreign and anti-masses policies.

I remembered that i hadn't completed my weekly hours of work mandatory for all Nigerians, i got there and saw the president dusting his trouser, he had just finished cutting the grass where he was assigned to work. I greeted him and he told me that he's expecting month end, that his monthly allowance had nearly finished, since he was also collecting the minimum wage being paid to the workers.

"Huum..." I woke up with a jolt slapping my ears, these mosquitoes again. So I have been dreaming. I was sweating profusely, there's no light. I stood up to take my bath, no water. I turned on my transistor radio, i heard them saying Boko haram has started again, and that robbers have killed 13 people. Oh God!

The Concept of Friendship

I don't really understand the concept of friendship. I really like making new friends and tend to forget my old friends. I believe old friends should be treated with greater importance but I don't practise that. I think the adage, "no one is perfect" has a link to that. You can possibly make 100 friends daily constantly for a week. But the question is, "Can you keep the 700 friends for the next week?"

That means you can be the best friend maker but do you think you can keep as much as you are making? Being a friend keeper is the most tasking thing. Is it a gift or something u can get trained for? Thats what I don't understand. All is well anyway.

Religious conflicts in the world - Nigeria as a case study

The main cause of religious conflicts in the world is trying to convince a religious fanatic to join your own religion. It always cause great trouble because the fanatic won't take it likely with the preacher. According to some people, it is argument on which religion is better that causes it. But I think mere debate on religion should not be a bone of contention. At least, when we were in primary school, we did some debate about which gender is better and it ended in peace. But when it comes to religion issues, people take it too personal.

I, as a person, I'm a Muslim and Christians don't normally know because whenever Christ preachers visit me, I treat them with modesty, listen to whatever they wanna say. I won't say anything even if they are talking about the fact that their religion is better than Islam. that doesn't make me desist from my Salaat or deprive me from being a muslim. Please, let's get wise  and desist from causing religious conflicts. The change begins with YOU and I.

I still remain my humble self, my name is Taslim, I am a Muslim and I'm not a terrorist.

The Concept of Life

During a robbery in Lagos, Nigeria, thebank robbershouted to everyone in the bank:"Don't move. The money belongs to theState. Your lifebelongs to you." Everyone in the bank laid down quietly. *This is called"Mind Changing Concept”Changing theconventional way of thinking. When a lady lay on thetable provocatively, the robbershouted at her: "Please be civilized! This is a robberyand not a rape!" *This is called"BeingProfessional” Focus only on what you are trained todo!* When the bank robbers returned home, theyoungerrobber (MBA-trained) told the older robber (who has only completed Year6 inprimary school): "Big brother, let's counthow much we got." The older robber rebutted andsaid:"You arevery stupid. There is so much money it will take us a long time to count.Tonight, theTV news will tell us how much we robbed fromthe bank!" *This is called"Experience.”Nowadays, experience ismore important than paper qualifications!* After therobbers had left, the bank managertold the bank supervisor to call the policequickly. Butthe supervisor said to him: "Wait!Let us take out $10 million from the bank forourselves and add it to the $70 million that we have previously embezzledfrom thebank”.*This is called "Swimming with the tide.”Converting an unfavorable situation to youradvantage!* The supervisor says: "Itwill be good ifthere is a robbery every month."*This is called "Killing Boredom.” PersonalHappiness is more important than yourjob*. The next day, the TV news reported that$100 millionwas taken from the bank. The robbers counted andcounted and counted, but they could onlycount $20 million. The robbers werevery angry andcomplained: "Werisked our livesand only took $20 million. The bank manager took $80million with a snap of his fingers. It looks like it isbetter to be educated than to be a thief!"*This is called "Knowledge is worth asmuch asgold!*" The bank manager was smiling and happy because his losses inthe share market arenow covered by this robbery.*This is called "Seizing the opportunity.”Daring to takerisks!*

The World as one big family!

I'm not sure if this is right or wrong but I believe even despite all the efforts of the United Nations to make this world connected. Its not still connected. Part of the things that are disconnecting the world and disallowing it from being a single entity is RACISM, ETHNICITY, TERRORISM, RELIGIOUS BELIEFS and lots more.

With those things present, I don't think the world can come to a solid agreement... even with all the UN treaties signed by various countries, some citizens still don't practise unity. Let's take the whole world as a big family. No discrimination, No threat, No immoral act against each other.

The change begins with you! Act fast!

What a congress!

The Nigerian Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS), FUTA Chapter held her 2nd congress and 1st emergency congress this 2nd semester. I was in attendance and it was all *inspiring. The congressmen wanted to impeach the president because of an immoral act he performed at the Students' Representatives Council business meeting which he has apologised for. Most of his opponents are the 500L brethren.

It was like a coup planned and they were sure they will win until the Governor of the 100L brought the 100L students to support the president. The largest number of congressmen present in the congress of NAAS was recorded with 75 comrades in attendance and the 100L were well represented.

Although, our president was told to carry on after the results of the voting favoured him but I don't think they are through with him. ALL IS WELL.
